The MissionShoe 3rd Generation Tracing Deluxe
MissionShoe
3rd Gen Tracting Deluxe

MissionShoe is a company headquartered in Rexburg, Idaho. The company began as a small start up in the extra bedroom of Thomas Scott. However, since its humble beginnings in Arizona, MissionShoe has grown to be one of the market leaders in missionary footwear.

The technology used to develop the MissionShoe 3rd Generation Tracting Deluxe is the same technology used by the Brazilian mail service. This is important because the Mormon missionaries in some areas of the world travel several miles a day on foot. They would need something more durable and comfortable than your average pair of dress shoes.

At first sight, the shoes reminded me of Dr. Martens shoes, which were a common shoe for LDS missionaries in the 90's. The comparison in looks I made because of the thickness of the sole. "Doc Martens" could give a person an extra inch in height. However, unlike Doc Martens the sole actually wraps up and over the upper leather portion of the shoe thus creating a seamless connection between the sole and the upper. This makes it less likely for anything to come apart along the sides of the shoe.

All of the important seems on the shoe are very obviously double or even triple sewn which would make it very durable in comparison to a normal pair of dress shoes which are normally only single stitched. Even among other competing brands of shoes designed with missionaries in mind the MissioShoe's construction is solid

However, just like it says in 1 Samuel 16:7 "...man looketh upon the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh upon the heart" the real question and measure of a shoe for missionaries isn't whether it's pretty enough, it's whether it is strong enough. On the MissionShoe website missionshoe.com, the company has a page entitled Teton Tested. On this page it talks about the extensive testing MissionShoe puts their shoes through to ensure missionaries are getting the quality they need. MissionShoe has taken their dress shoes on several extensive hikes in the Grand Teton Mountains. My wife bought me a lovely pair of shoes from a local branch of a large shoe company notorious for low prices. Those shoes made my feet hurt walking on flat sidewalks, I could never imagine taking those dress shoes on a hike! I value my feet far too much to do that!

All of this information makes me ask the question, can your dress shoe do that?

The shoes, designed to meet the needs for LDS missionaries has even become so popular that large retailers like MissionaryMall have picked up their products.

You can also find their products on their own website:
missionshoestore.com

Or other online retailers like:
missionsite.net

All in all, these are solid product and I would highly recommend them. I think it just makes sense.
